Our aim is to monitor the growth and distribution of AI jobs across India.
Methodology:
Classification of AI jobs is done using 30+ keywords defined by Burning Glass Technologies, an analytics software company that provides real-time data on job growth, skills in demand, and labor market trends.

Panel A in Fig. 1 shows the state-wise distribution of AI jobs as a proportion of total online job postings in India
In Fig. 1, the Online Job Posting Index is a proportion of all the jobs posted by any particular state to the total number of jobs posted online in India. The AI Job Posting Index is a proportion of the AI jobs posted from the selected state to the total number of AI jobs posted across India.
Karnataka leads the states with the highest proportion of AI jobs; 40% of AI jobs posted online in India originate from Karnataka. It is followed by Maharashtra (22%), Haryana (10%), Delhi (7%), and Tamil Nadu (6%).
Panel B in Fig. 1 shows the month-wise trend of the proportion of AI jobs to the total number of jobs posted online in India for the selected state or at the country-level over time (Jan 2019-Mar 2020).
Despite the impact of COVID-19 on the total quantum of jobs posted in March 2020, the proportion of AI jobs posted in that month exceeded those posted in the same month of the preceding year.
Our aim is to monitor the growth and distribution of AI jobs across the metro cities in India.

On average, the proportion of AI job postings in metro cities is more than 10%; this is higher than national average of ca. 4% of jobs related to AI. This is consistent with the presence of skilled workforce in metro cities.

The occurrence of the skills is searched in the job descriptions, and the count is visually is represented in the tree map.
Machine Learning is the most sought skill across all the job postings. A consistent growth in AI-related skills can be seen over time (Jan 2019-Mar 2020).
After Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep learning, NLP, and others are most in demand.
